At the recent ACTE Board of Directors' meeting here in Washington, D.C., I announced that I would be leaving the association in July. This was a difficult decision, but there comes a time in everyone's career when change presents itself, and opportunities arise that must be pursued. I have been very fortunate to be a part of this association for the past ten-plus years--first as government relations director, then for the past seven years as executive director. It has been a privilege to represent vocational, career and technical education before Congress and the Administration and to provide profession al development, image building and other services to our members.

The ACTE Board has adopted a wise and thorough process for conducting a national search for the next ACTE executive director. The executive committee will serve as a search committee, ably chaired by president-elect Dianne Mondry. The association is in good hands with her leadership.

While there are many people I need to thank for their help over the years, I would like to single out a few to mention here. …
