Anderson Gets Wired

Chris Anderson, U.S. business editor of The Economist, has been named editor in chief of Wired and is joining the magazine as of June 4.

Working as an editor and writer at The Economist, Anderson specialized in coverage of technology and the new economy. He was promoted to U.S. business editor of the magazine a year ago. Anderson started at the magazine in 1994 as technology editor, based in London, a position he held until 1997. At the same time he also started The Economist's Internet coverage, directed its Web strategy, and built its initial Web site. From October 1997 until March 2000, he served as Hong Kong bureau chief and Asia business editor.

Prior to joining The Economist, Anderson was section editor at Science, reporting on U.S. science and technology. And since 1992, he's been a commentator on science and technology for Marketplace, an international business and economics program broadcast on the American Public Radio Network. Anderson has also held positions at Nature and The Scientist.
