Dear Readers,

Every now and again something crosses my desk that defies logic and common sense or just surprises even this old newshound who's seen almost every dumb thing people can do.

But reading John Elvin's story on the macabre new "art works" of human corpses just about takes the cake. In reality, the so-called educational exhibit on tour in Europe and Japan- and soon to be in America unless someone sane stops it -- is only a sideshow. The freak and geeks are the tens of thousands of people who have supported this traveling exhibit of human dead.

What brings this to mind is the utter disregard for the dignity of humankind shown by those going to the shows. Every day we are losing thousands who remember the Holocaust -- the Nazi concentration camps, the lamp shades made with human flesh, the jewelry made of dental fillings ripped from peoples' mouths -- as well as the horrors of Stalinism and the atrocities committed by Imperial Japan. …
