New DODISS & QPL Information On CD-ROM

Information Handling Services (IHS) has announced that U.S. military standards and specifications information is now available on CD-ROM. The new DODISS PLUS and QPL Services place fully searchable DODISS (Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards) information and Qualified Products Lists at the fingertips if engineers and specifiers, allowing them to conduct searches in minutes at their own workstations.

The DODISS PLUS Service contains detailed summaries of over 45,000 active Military/Federal standardization documents and references to over 150,000 historical standardization documents. The full text of the "Scope" and "Intended Use" paragraphs appears for each active document, along with complete lists of applicable documents. The engineer, by performing keyword, document number or partial document number, FSC number, or IHS LOCATOR Code searches, can immediately identify key documents without spending hours needlessly reviewing nonrelevant materials. Once the need documents have been identified, it's a simple matter of going to IHS's own VSMF microfilm files, Global Engineering Documents (an IHS subsidiary specializing in hard copy document services), or to the original had copy to find the document in full. …
