Monsoon Hunts Agency in Return to Advertising

Monsoon, the high street clothing retailer, is holding a creative pitch for its first external ad agency, following the appointment of a new management team in April. It is thought that the pitch will involve three agencies.

The search for a creative agency follows talks with media agencies earlier this year and reports that the company is also seeking a marketing director. The company declined to comment on the pitch or future marketing strategy.

A Monsoon spokeswoman said the company has not used above-the-line advertising for at least two-and-a-half years, and its focus has traditionally been on PR. Advertising was previously handled in-house.

The decision to return to above-the-line activity follows a significant upheaval in the retailer's management structure and comes as it seeks to build its brand in a competitive high street market.
