RBS Invites Pitches for Two DM Card Accounts

The Royal Bank of Scotland has decided to review two of its direct marketing accounts for its card operations.

The bank, which bought NatWest at the start of last year, is reviewing its [pound]25m Nat West card account, held by TBWA GGT, and its Royal Bank of Scotland Avanta account, currently held by Tequila.

Both Tequila and TBWA GGT will be invited to repitch for the accounts, with four other undisclosed agencies.

Tim Lewis, director of credit cards at Royal Bank of Scotland, said that two agencies will be appointed to handle the accounts in April. Lewis said there were no obvious new projects, but that the time was right to review simply because the bank had been with TBWA GGT since 1998 and with Tequila since 1996.

The Royal Bank of Scotland card account, held by Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel, is not affected by the review since the agency was only appointed to the account in September 1999. …
