Coming aboard (AMERICAN FORESTS' Board): Former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman, 56, now with the Washington law firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. A former congressman, Glickman served in the Clinton administration from 1995 until January--one of the longest tenures in that post in modern history.

Thomas C. Jorling, 61, vice president for environmental affairs for International Paper. Jorling's long and varied career has included stints as a high school science teacher, a lawyer for the Smithsonian Institution, and Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Mark Staudinger, 39, vice president of direct media for Eddie Bauer, one of AMERICAN FORESTS' corporate sponsors. A marketing expert, Staudinger oversees the retail company's Internet and catalog operations.

Moving on: Michael P. Dombeck, 52, chief of the Forest Service from 1997 until his retirement from the agency in March. Dombeck, a fisheries biologist who brought about major changes in the Forest Service-many of them applauded by environmentalists--has been appointed a senior fellow at the National Wildlife Federation.

James A. Mattson, 54, after 31 years as an engineer for the Forest Service's North Central Research Station, into active retirement as an academic adviser at Michigan Technological University. …
