Our national organization is ever changing to meet the needs of the new century. During the past year, NRPA has experienced many achievements: the success of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the initiation of new national programs such as "Model Cities", the selection of Destry Jarvis as the new executive director, the adoption of a model governance plan, and Vision 2010. All of these actions reflect the changes of the 21st century and will move our organization forward.

Recently, your national association co-hosted a reception to celebrate the appointment of one of our former presidents, Fran Mainella, as the 16th director of the National Park Service. Congratulations Fran, your NRPA family is proud of your accomplishments and wishes you continued success in your new challenging position.

I know many of you are preparing to attend the 2001 Congress and Exposition in Denver on October 3-6. If you haven't made plans to attend just yet, now is the time register and enjoy the many learning and networking opportunities that wait. This year's schedule is packed with a number of informative sessions, and don't forget to attend all the socials! In this issue of P&R you will find important information about Special Focus Seminars, CEU-Educational Sessions, tours, and the many attractions Denver has to offer. …
