BBC Set to Review [Pound]10m Media Work

The BBC is poised to kick off a review of its media planning and buying business, believed to be worth [pound]10m a year.

The statutory review, which takes place every five years, covers all the public service elements of the BBC, including TV, radio, online, sports, factual and learning, regions and nations, and children.

Media agencies including incumbent PHD will be invited to submit a tender via an ad to be placed in the Official Journal of the European Community next month.

The review will be overseen by BBC head of marketing David Grint, and will be carried out via the AAR. An appointment is likely to be made by early next year.

The rethink follows reviews of both the TV Licensing Agency's [pound]9m creative and media businesses and the BBC's design agency roster.

According to Grint, one of the key aims of the review is to find ways of achieving closer synergies between the BBC's internal planning department and external agency. …
