Kevin Walsh, 47, publisher of The Morning Journal in Lorain, Ohio, has been named publisher of the New Haven Register, effective Jan. 1. He will succeed Thomas E. Rice, senior vice president of operations for parent Journal Register Co., who has served as publisher since March. Walsh began his newspaper career at the old Houston Post in 1979, and was advertising director at the Daily Record in Parsippany, N.J., before joining The Morning Journal in 1991.
