Chris Herd is managing director of Bates UK, having joined in August this year. He started his career at WCRS in 1990 as a graduate trainee and left to join Leagas Delaney in 1995, but rejoined WCRS in 1997 as group director.

This writer's upper zones (the top part of letters such as b, d, f, hand I) are by far the most dominant. The upper zone relates to distant horizons such as ambitions, aspirations and all other future related matters.

Middle zone (a, c and e) relates to social implications in the here and now, while lower zone (g, j, and y),his second dominant, relates to satisfaction and fulfilment. The fact that this writer chooses to emphasise his upper zones indicates that his interests are most keenly focused upon what lies ahead rather than what has been and his healthy lower zone indicates the satisfaction he has in doing so.

Keenly goal-orientated, his ability to concentrate is superb.

He's very much a controller, endeavours to make and maintain progress at all times and has one of the highest levels of intuition that I have encountered. …
