Gandalf's New Family of Short-Haul Modems

Gandalf Data has introduced a major set of diagnostic enhancements to its family of high-performance short-haul and campus modems that are designed to satisfy asynchronous local data communication needs.

The five-product LDS 120E family supersedes most products in Gandalf's LDS 120 family. The new data sets operate at rates up to 19.2 kbps over private or leased four-wire circuits. The modems provide efficient data communication in multistory building and campus environments.

The new modems' highly sophisticated design improves noise immunity in industrial environments while also meeting telephone company power and spectrum limits. The new modems are also transformer-coupled so that they can be used on private or leased circuits or on mixed ownership channels without DC continuity. The core design of the products also provides auto-equalizing and auto-phasing to simplify installation and moves. Those features, along with the reduced power consumption and new V.54 diagnostic and integral testing functions, provide greater realiability and simpler troubleshooting.
