Thomas Cook marketing director Kevin Styles has quit just three months after being picked for the top post, to join drinks retailer First Quench.

Styles will report to First Quench chief executive David Williams, and as sales and marketing chief will be responsible for the marketing of First Quench-owned retail brands including Thresher Wine Shop, Bottoms Up, Wine Rack, Drinks Cabin and Haddows.

He will also oversee the re-branding of the group's Victoria Wine stores under the Thresher name.

Styles replaces Paul Vines, who joined in September on a six-month interim contract. Vines is leaving to pursue personal interests.

First Quench had a marketing budget of about [pounds sterling]2m last year. This figure is expected to increase this year.

It is not yet clear whether Styles will carry out a review of agencies; through-the-line work is carried out by Perspectives Red Cell and media is by MindShare.

Styles' appointment is the latest upheaval at the drinks group, which has seen a series of senior management app-ointments in the past year.
