Abington Savings Bank in Massachusetts has promoted Julie Jenkins to manager of its operations division.

Ms. Jenkins was also named a vice president of the bank. She is in charge of loan servicing, deposit operations, facilities, and strategic initiatives at the Abington Bancorp Inc. subsidiary.

She was a project manager at the $770 million-asset bank, where she has worked since 1993.


Southern Financial Bancorp Inc. in Warrenton, Va., has promoted its corporate secretary, Richard P. Steele, to executive vice president.

Mr. Steele is also in charge of Southern's special projects. He managed the company's purchases of Horizon Bank of Virginia in Merrifield in 1999 and First Savings Bank of Virginia in Springfield in 2000.

He also oversaw the opening last year of a Charlottesville branch of the $755 million-asset company's principal subsidiary, Southern Financial Bank.

He joined the bank in 1999 as a senior vice president. Before that he had been a senior vice president for six years at FX Concepts Inc., an international money management firm based in New York.

Still earlier he had been the Geneva-based director of finance in charge of operations in Greece, the Near and Middle East, northern Africa, and Pakistan at Eli Lilly & Co.


Guaranty Bank in Dallas has promoted Ronald D. Murff to president of its retail banking operations and Thomas R. Yenne to managing director of its retail lending group.
