M&S FS Picks Ex-Egg Chief as Top Marketer

Marks & Spencer Financial Services (M&S FS) has hired former Egg marketing chief Alistair Milne as marketing director as it gears up for the launch of its first ever credit card.

Milne, who has held senior marketing roles at Prudential as well as its subsidiary brands Save & Prosper and Egg, joined M&S FS earlier this month. His remit is to oversee all marketing, brand and communications activity as well as sales development initiatives.

His responsibilities will include the development and launch of the combined M&S credit and loyalty card, which is expected to be unveiled within the next year.

The card will prove a critical factor in the retailer's attempts to generate greater loyalty among consumers as it continues its recovery.

TBWA\GGT Direct was appointed in January to work on direct marketing for the card, which will offer points to customers for purchases and additional points on products bought in M&S stores (Marketing, December 6, 2001). …
