Technology Grants for Teacher-Training Facilities. (Front and Center)

On February 1, the SMARTer Kids Foundation announced the availability of $2.4 million in grants to enhance technology integration in teacher-preparation and training facilities. PREP Grants, as they are called by the foundation, cover up 70 percent of the suggested list price of qualifying SMART Roomware products that include interactive whiteboards, multimedia cabinets and computer lab instruction software.

PREP Grants are available to all accredited, nonprofit North American universities, colleges, teacher-training schools, institutes or centers involved in pre-service or in-service teacher training and/or education leading to an education degree or professional teaching certification. The grant is also available to local, district or regional in-service teacher-training centers that train a minimum of 100 teachers per year (with the exception of prior recipients of PREP Grants).

"Delivering interactive lessons is critical to creating an enriched learning environment," says SMARTer Kids Foundation Executive Director Nancy Knowlton.
