Region I Overview

Region I is composed of the following 16 state affiliates: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Federal Department of Education, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode island, Vermont and West Virginia.

Region I Mission Statement

To support the efforts of the ACTE state associations in providing educational leadership in the development of a competitive workforce.

Purpose of Region I

To foster involvement of membership in Region I activities

To cultivate organizational leadership

To advocate workforce development

To emphasize professional development

To promote a collaborative network of communication

Region I Membership

All ACTE members who hold membership in a Region I ACTE affiliate shall be members.

Region I Conferences

The Region I fall conference was held in White Plains, New York, on October 18, 19 and 20, 2001.

The fall conference for 2002 will be held in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on October 17, 18 and 19.

2001 Region I Awards

The following awards were presented at the ACTE convention in New Orleans, December 2001.

* The Jim Hanneman Memorial Award for Leadership and Service was presented to Charleyne Gilbert, Maine.

* The Scott Westbrook Humanitarian Award was presented to Ernie Powers, West Virginia.

* Quality State Association Award for 2001 was presented to West Virginia ACTE.

* The Outstanding Region I Teacher of the Year 2001 is Karen Wellbaum, Ohio. …
