Johnny Hornby is partner at Clemmow Horby Inge. He co-founded the agency after leaving TBWA/London where he was joint managing director and responsible for the campaign that saw Labour win the 2001 election.

It is my usual habit to trace writing as part of the analysis process - my hand following a path determined by the writer's brain - and what an irresistible journey this writer's mind afforded me.

Here we have one of the most original thinkers I have ever encountered.

I can't make up my mind whether he's eccentric or creative or innovative or independent or generous or intelligent or crackers. Yes I can, he's all of them plus some more.

Although I often use the phrase 'a law unto him/herself' I have never encountered anyone who fits it better. He doesn't set out to be 'different' - he has no need to try.

A right-brain thinker who can churn out quirky (and yet practical) ideas, he comes into his own when given a single concept to home in on, play with and enlarge upon. …
