When I look back at the past several months during my term as IABC chairman, I have observed how your volunteer leaders--on the executive board, managing the districts and regions, and leading the local chapters in North America and abroad--have never faltered in their efforts to provide real membership value and to enhance the IABC experience. They are the architects of the New IABC, a theme that I launched last June.

Even today, I get questions from members and the media about what is new about IABC, and I quickly respond, "Plenty!" First, we have a new president, Julie Freeman, APR, who came aboard last June and quickly established herself as a confident leader who will take IABC to the next level. Hers is not an easy job, but I strongly feel that Julie's excellent managerial skills and financial acumen will benefit our association in the months and years ahead.

IABC is making headway in better serving our international membership. A global task force was created last fall. This group, which includes leaders from the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia and the United Kingdom, has developed a global growth strategy for IABC. …
