Lattice Releases New dBC III Plus Library

Lattice has released its upgraded dBC III Plus C function library for DOS and OS/2. Version 1.1 offers new C functions, improved performance, new documentation, new data locking algorithms, and support for OS/2 re-entrancy.

The Lattice dBC III Plus library contains more than 45 functions which allow C programmers to create and maintain database programs that are compatible with dBASE III Plus files. "Writing database programs in the C language allows developers to create programs which run faster than interpreted dBASE programs," said Robert Hansen, Lattice vice president. "In addition, C programmers can take advantage of other C function libraries to incorporate graphics, communications, and many other capabilities into their database program. Because the dBC III Plus library is compatible with dBASE III Plus, programmers can upgrade their dBASE programs without recreating existing data files."

Version 1.1 of dBC III Plus includes new functions to remove logically deleted records from a DBF file; erase data from a DBF, NDX, or DBT file without destroying the database record structure definition; update a record without a prolonged record lock; and position the index file to a specific key/record number. …
