Superstars take to TV in BSB movie push

Top personalities Richard Attenborough, Christopher "Superman" Reeve and England striker Gary Lineker will spearhead BSB's autumn TV ad campaign due to break this month.

The [pounds]12m campaign is expected to be the most intense ever for a new media launch.

The BSB board met yesterday (Wednesday) to approve the final versions of the advertisements, which will lead the satellite network's pre-Christmas push.

Both Attenborough and Reeve are being used to promote demand for The Movie Channel which BSB believes will be the main drive behind dish sales.

The first ad, with a working title of Bombay Aloo, has Oscar-winning director Attenborough sitting in an Indian restaurant.

The viewer is not quite sure if Attenborough is totting up the cost of all the films BSB has to offer, or simply adding up his bill.

In the second ad, Cup of Sugar, a couple who have just taken delivery of their receiver box are interrupted by a procession of stars eager to watch BSB. …
