TMB wins 5m [pounds] Correspondent account

The Sunday Correspondent has appointed The Media Business (TMB) to its 5m [pounds] media planning account--believed to be following a recommendation by its new ad agency Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury (HHCL).

The Correspondent, which has been under consistent pressure in the overcrowded Sundays quality market, decided against a lengthy media pitch after the recent choice of HHCL.

Nick Shott, the Correspondent's chief executive, says: "HHCL and TMB have worked together a great deal and feel comfortable together. HHCL made a powerful case."

The Correspondent received a 10m [pounds] refinancing package earlier this year, strongly supported by the Chicago Herald Tribune Group and the Guardian and Manchester Evening News.

However, the market is proving extremely tough for all the quality Sundays. Consistent drops in sales levels now find the Observer at 545,000 and the Independent on Sunday at 330,000. …
