WIDS 7 is Web-friendly software that helps educators create learner-centered courses and programs while facilitating the development of online courses and Web pages. Released by the Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS), a division of the Wisconsin Technical College System Foundation (WTCSF), WIDS 7 links standards with outcomes.

According to WIDS Director Judy Neill, the new version 7 of the software is an improvement over version 6 because of its broad approach, which is like "one-stop shopping" in the way it addresses a number of issues at all levels of educational curricular development. The Publisher 7 feature allows users to generate work to HTML, making curricula Web-ready, or to MS Word, allowing greater customization of reports.

"Educators both in and outside the state are working with and reaping the benefits of WIDS," says Neill. "The new version of WIDS is available worldwide as a tool that helps educators design and easily adapt curriculum in any content area for use on the Web. …
