Libraries nationwide remembered those lost in the September 11 terrorist attacks with special programs and exhibits. Clockwise from above:

In Des Plaines, Illinois, Mayor Tony Arreida (sixth from right) and other city officials attended the September 9 presentation at Des Plaines Public Library of an angel-square quilt from 4th- and 5th-grade students.

More than 150 children, with their families and caregivers, attended a patriotic puppet show for story time, "Let Freedom Sing!" at McCracken County Public Library in Paducah, Kentucky, presented by the Homeschool Volunteer Puppeteers.

Jennifer Robinson, director of the Providence, Rhode Island Wall of Hope Memorial community project, is featured in a 10-minute documentary video, Building Unity, produced by Providence Public Library's digital-video program students, part of the Verizon Whiz Kids computer-education program.

A sympathy quilt designed by children from SALAM, the Sacramento (Calif.) Area League of Associated Muslims, was displayed during the month of September at New York Public Library's Donnell Library Center. …
