Diane McCall, CPM[R] felt the need to help somehow. In the wake of the September 11 attacks, the San Antonio-based property manager and Institute Chapter No. 48 president hung a large American flag in the lobby of her historical, high-rise managed property, the Milam Building. As the flag hung in the lobby, an overwhelming majority of Milam's 350 tenants signed their names on the flag. McCall then mailed the flag to Afghanistan where her son, Sgt. Keith Jones, was stationed with the 75th Air Force Squadron.

Despite her postmaster's warning the box was too big to reach Afghanistan, McCall sent the flag accompanied by a note that read: "To the 75th Air Force Squadron, our thoughts and prayers are with each of you everyday, from the Milam Tenants in San Antonio, Texas."

McCall, also a motivational speaker, continued communicating with the squadron and in August received the following message: "Dear Milam Tenants, The 75th Squadron send [sic] thanks for remembering us. …
