BMP DDB has held on to its crown as the most effective agency with billings of more than pounds 100m. It's a repeat of its performance from 2001, when it picked up the inaugural Effectiveness Agency of the Year prize.

It's a fine result for an agency that had to come through its fair share of challenges in 2001, including the loss of accounts such as Vodafone and ITV Digital, and the departure of a creative partnership in the shape of Neil Dawson and Clive Pickering.

The criteria on which BMP DDB has picked up the effectiveness agency prize is slightly different this year. Instead of awarding up to five stars for each entry, the judges have given six points to gold award winners, four points for silvers and two points for a bronze. The agency winning the Grand Prix gained an extra three points, while the recipients of special awards garnered a further point.

BMP DDB entered six papers for the 2002 IPA Effectiveness Awards and they all picked up a silver award. …
