"I knew I wanted my own business since I was 16 years old. I didn't know what it would look like, but I knew I wanted it," said Nancy McGaw, co-owner of Bruce McGaw Graphics. What she also could not have known was how tremendously successful her business would become. In 1978, she and her husband, Bruce McGaw, co-founded Bruce McGaw Graphics in a one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. Over the next 25 years, their business has grown to become an international force in the graphic arts industry.

"At the time, there were very few poster shops. We saw this as an opportunity to create a need, and we have continued to do so ever since," Nancy said. Along the way, McGaw Graphics has become a global publisher and distributor of an unprecedented collection of fine art. The collection features work by artists sought out and exclusively signed by Bruce McGaw Graphics, as well as artists from various museum collections. Together they represent a broad range of taste and style.

The quest to maintain and further develop their collection requires a multi-step process. First, there is an unrelenting worldwide search for talent. "You have to always be looking at incoming art and travel all over the world to find art," Nancy said. Second, researching and studying past market trends is important. "As a publisher and distributor of art, you have to have a pulse on the market. You have to anticipate your clients' needs and address them accordingly. Trendsetting is what we do best," she said. …
