Dixons and Currys Chiefs Quit Group

Dixons Stores Group (DSG) has been dealt a double blow with the departure of two of its most senior marketers.

The loss of Dixons marketing chief Stuart Carson and Currys marketing director Ian Ditcham comes as the group reels both from falling profits and from Competition Commission claims that it operates a monopoly in extended warranties for electrical goods.

Carson is leaving at the end of this week to move to Canada, while Ditcham has already quit and is not thought to have another job to go to. The two departures are not thought to be linked, although DSG refused to comment on the reasons behind them.

They have prompted a shake-up across the group, which is now on the hunt to replace Carson as marketing director of Dixons. It has promoted Peter Keenan, marketing director of PC World to be deputy managing director at Currys and oversee the chain's marketing activity. Keenan has been replaced internally by Simon Turner, operations director. …
