Combat Survivability Division Presents Awards: NDIA Welcomes New Government Policy VP. (NDIA News)

The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) welcomes Peter M. Steffes as vice president of government policy.

He replaces Steven Thompson, who accepted a partnership at a Washington lobbying group.

Steffes has been a professional staff member of the House Committee on Armed Services since 1983. He was the lead staff member of the subcommittee on military readiness since 1996.

Previously, Steffes served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, retiring as chief master sergeant (E-9).

Steffes and his wife Barbara have two children, Nicholette and Timothy, and live on Chincoteague Island, Va.

The National Defense Industrial Association's (NDIA) Combat Survivability Awards for Leadership and Technical Achievement were presented to Steven L. Messervy and Paul W Martin at the Aircraft Survivability 2002 Symposium held last November at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), in Monterey, Calif.

The awards are presented annually to recognize individuals or teams demonstrating superior performance across the entire spectrum of survivability including susceptibility reduction, vulnerability reduction, and related modeling and simulation.
