PAEDOPHILIA, SEXTOURISM, AIDS -these might not seem like obvious themes for a children's comic. But at UNICEF we have found that the comic short-story format is perfect for tackling even the most difficult and sensitive issues that may affect children.

Racism and asylum, homelessness, and suicide among young offenders locked up in adult prisons are just some of the issues we have tackled in this way. We have also produced a single continuous comic story dealing with issues as complex as multinational interference in Africa and child-trafficking.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is something that every child and young person should be aware of and understand. But it's a weighty document. So to make it accessible we have used cartoons and comics to explore the 54 Articles it contains.

In partnership with a number of cartoonists and writers, we have produced six comics, with an increasing level of sophistication in content and design. …
