Health and safety systems specialist PSI recently launched the first IT-based stress management solution, enabling employers to adopt a proactive stance to their duty of care in respect of stress in the workplace.

A recent survey conducted by PSI, among more than 150 leading private and public companies in the UK, revealed that only a third have a stress management programme in place. Most showed a keen awareness of the cost of stress, an estimated L4 billion national burden.

The evident need is for a methodology enabling the cultural shift from a predominantly reactive response to stress-related ills. PSI's approach recognises two crucial aspects of stress management - that stress is an organisational problem, and that prevention is less costly than cure.
