The Second Latin America Risk and Insurance Management Conference

Risk management and insurance professionals gathering in Argentina for the second international conference sponsored by ALARYS (the Asociacion Latinamericana de Administradores de Riesgos y Seguros) will discuss the latest developments in a rapidly changing landscape during nearly 40 educational sessions featuring speakers from Latin America, the United States and Europe. In keeping with the global nature of the conference, sessions will be translated simultaneously into Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Overviews of how risk management is evolving in Latin America will be presented by several speakers providing perspectives from specific countries. Developments in Brazil will be discussed by Jose Geraldo, risk manager of Usiminas and president of ABGR, the Brazilian risk management association. Jorge L. Hernandez, risk manager of Lagoven y PDV Marina and president of ASVARS, Venezuela's risk management association, will speak about his country. Argentina will be the subject of a presentation by Miguel Errecart, risk manager of Mercedes-Benz Argentina and vice president of ADARA, the Argentine risk management association. Additional presentations will focus on Mexico and Panama.

Market Deregulation

Insurance market deregulation is playing a major role in the growth of international trade and risk management in Latin America, and the implications of market reforms will be discussed by Anthony Zinicola of Reliance National and Michael Good of Aon Risk Services. Jorge Luzzi, risk manager-Latin America for the Pirelli Group and president of ALARYS and ADARA, will make a presentation on the effects of the elimination of governmental reinsurance monopolies in Chile, Mexico and Argentina. The prospect for similar reinsurance reform in Brazil will be discussed by Dr. Santi Cianci, general director of Assicurazioni Generali in Sao Paulo. …
