Chadwyck-Healey Releases Two Discs

Chadwyck-Healey has recently released The American Poetry Full-Text Database, the largest electronic collection of poetry by American authors ever assembled. It has also published the Wing Short-Title Catalogue 1641-1700 on CDROM. This electronic bibliographic database contains thousands of extant books, pamphlets, and broadsides printed in English between 1641 and 1700.

American Poetry

The American Poetry Full-Text Database contains more than 30,000 poetic works from over 200 writers active from the early 17th century to the early 20th century. Familiar names such as Anne Bradstreet, Edward Taylor, Wait Whitman, and Emily Dickinson are included, along with poets who are less well-known and whose works are therefore less available.

The selection of authors was based on the poets included in the Bibliography of American Literature. Additional poems by other authors are recommended by a distinguished editorial board chaired by Professor Matthew J. Bruccoli, Jefferies Professor of English at the University of South Carolina.
