A new option for R.Ph.s looking for an automated Rx refill program is APRA from PharmaComm, Waldorf, Md. APRA is an external hardware/software unit that uses interactive voice response to take patient refill requests. The price per unit is $895, with a $200 annual maintenance fee. Facts and Comparisons, St. Louis, has launched The Formulary Mam ager software package to help R.Ph.s and clinicians track and print hospital formularies. The software creates and tracks any drug list. All formulary data can be customized by adding policies and procedures, flag descriptions, cost, comments, or ordering information. Drug information includes agent and drug class data for more than 500 drugs and 2,000 dosage forms. The Windows-based program is formatted on three 3.5-in. floppy diskettes.
