The Bank of England has appointed three new non-executive directors. They are James Strachan, former chair of the Audit Commission; Robert Wigley, chair, Merrill Lynch Europe, Middle East and Africa; and David Rhind, chair of the Statistics Commission and vice-chancellor and principal of City University.

Tim Thorogood is to be the new chief executive of the Local Government Information Unit, following Dennis Reed's retirement this summer. He has occupied directorships in local government for more than nine years and was the youngest person to be appointed chief executive of the City and County Council of Swansea.

Adrian Pulham, director of education at the Institute of Internal Auditors, has been appointed as CIPFA's new education director with effect from August. He replaces Ken Gill, who has left to take up the post of strategic director at the National College for School Leadership. …
