Readers Give Public Finance the Thumbs-Up

Public Finance has significantly improved as a publication over the past three years and has been given high satisfaction ratings in an extensive reader survey.

The survey, undertaken for PF by independent market research company Marketworld Partnership, examined the views of almost 600 readers.

It found that 83% described the magazine either as 'good' or Very good'. This is five percentage points up on the figure recorded when the survey was last carried out in 2003.

The highest ratings went to news and features, with 89% and 81% describing these sections as good or very good. Both of these figures are an improvement on three years ago.

News and features also received the highest marks for readership. The news section was read by 94% of respondents followed by features (83%), the opinion page (77%) and the editor's leader (75%).

Design and style were commended in the survey. The layout and appearance of the magazine were seen as good or very good by 85% of respondents, while writing style and readability were appreciated by 84%.

Chief executives, finance directors, auditors, accountants, consultants and academics were among the 571 respondents. …
