Thomas Register on the Internet (http://www.thomasregister.com), which claims to be the world's largest industrial Web site, has announced significant expansion of content including the addition of several hundred company catalogs and literature-by-fax offerings. This month, 600 industrial product catalogs will be added, giving users access to more than 2,300 online catalogs and 40,000 distinct screens of detailed product information. In addition, the number of companies offering expanded product information by facsimile will grow 44 percent to an expected 800, compared to the 555 currently offered.

The depth of data available makes the site one of the most heavily trafficked business addresses on the World Wide Web, according to the company. Since its inception in October 1995, hundreds of thousands of users have completed the free online registration process with an average of 15,550 new registrants signing on each month since May 1996. It claims as a key strength its proprietary search engine, which it says enables users to perform realtime searches of its mammoth 155,000-company database.
