Congressional Information Service, Inc. (CIS) has announced Congressional Compass, a new World Wide Web service that provides access to the full text of a wide array of information published by and about the U.S. Congress (http:/www. cispubs.com). Unmatched in breadth and depth of coverage by other private and government-published services, according to CIS, Congressional Compass offers researchers a master source for obtaining congressional information.

The service is designed primarily for academic and public library users. It applies a common, easy-to-use interface across a wide range of information so that students using the service can find information without librarian assistance or training. The service also includes special features that explain the different kinds of congressional publications and their relative importance as legislative and historical documents. As a result, students who are unfamiliar with congressional material can better understand the legislative process and more effectively interpret their research results.
