Americans Win Information Industry Golf Tournament

The third annual international information industry golf tournament, known as the Thompson-Hogan Salver, was held December 6, 1996, following the Online Information 96 conference in London. For the third time, the American team was victorious and won by the same score as in the previous two tournaments-10 points to two.
The American team featured Harry Allcock of IFI/Plenum, who shot a solid 82 on a difficult course to defeat Tim Smartt of UMI International in a hardfought match that wasn't decided until the very last hole. Mike Johnston of UMI/ DataTimes and Tom Hogan of Information Today, Inc. were also winners, defeating Geoffrey Thompson of Thompson Henry Ltd. and Mickey Risseeuw of the International Translations Centre, respectively.
The only winner for the European team was a newcomer to the event, Bryan Fisher of Thompson Henry Ltd., who overcame a courageous Scott Roulet of Paracel Online Systems.
This year's match was held at Coombe Hill Golf Club in Surrey, just nine miles from Hyde Park in London. …
