CCC Streamlines Custom Reprint Delivery

Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a licensing agent for text-reproduction rights, and Scoop ReprintSource have announced an alliance that will enable publishers who use Rightslink, CCC's digital rights management solution, to streamline delivery of custom reprints to their customers by taking reprint orders right at their Web sites.

Customers who wish to order reprints of articles, news items, and other content can click on a link located near the item they wish to reprint. The Rightslink service instantly forwards the order to Scoop, which, in turn, provides price quotes for high-quality, customized reprints and then produce the reprints to fulfill customers' orders.

"By aligning with Scoop, we offer our publisher partners yet another way to monetize their online content, and we offer end-users another efficient way to license online content," said Rick Miller, CCC's manager of market analysis and development. "As more and more information consumption moves to the digital realm, information providers must replicate their real-world services in the digital environment."

"The new alliance between CCC and Scoop will further leverage the productive relationships we have with both parties," said Peter Simmons, director of The New York Times Agency. "Most importantly, our constituency will enjoy a streamlined ordering process and the highest-quality reprint product."

CCC's Rightslink suite also includes Rightslink Security, a document security service that allows publishers to restrict access to their premium content. …
