NewNet Announces Smart-Mail

Article excerpt

NewsNet has announced the introduction of its interactive Web e-mail delivery product, NewsNet Smart-mail. NewsNet Smart-mail is available for all NewsNet on the Web subscribers who use Netscape e-mail, or any other mail reader that fully supports HTML e-mail.

According to the company, NewsNet is offering NewsNet Smart-mail in response to requests from professional searchers, information specialists, librarians, and end users with business information needs for a practical way to save time, increase efficiency, and wade through information on the Web to pinpoint the useful kernels. NewsNet Smart-mail delivers customized NewsFlash clippings to each user's e-mail address a minimum of twice per day. Once the user's unique NewsFlash folders (containing headlines and three-line briefs) arrive, the user reviews these "clips," then clicks on the headline link, connecting to NewsNet on the Web for full text of the article(s) of interest. Every NewsNet headline displays the price of the article so the user knows in advance exactly what each article costs.

Also, the full-text selection may be accounted for using NewsNet on the Web's project-tracking feature. The user can return to his or her e-mail account when the transaction is completed, e-mail the article to other parties under a NewsNet Corporate Redistribution Agreement, perform an interactive search on NewsNet, or enter NewsNet's area. At no time is the user disconnected from e-mail to open a new application in order to access NewsNet. …
