One of the things I love most about the dance world is how varied each company is-from fundraising efforts and audition processes to marketing campaigns and choreographic tactics. When you get to know the inner workings of as many companies as I have, the business side of dance seems as much an artform as the performance side. I'm particularly excited when I learn about small U.S. companies that are making a big impact globally, like this month's cover subject, Dana Tai Soon Burgess & Co. To find out how, Managing Editor Kristin Lewis followed DTSB & Co. on one of their latest international tours-to Peru.

In Lima, arts patron Fernando Torres told Kristin, "Money should be invested in culture. If ten percent of the money spent on the war could be spent on cultural projects, probably the United States would be a real leader in the world."
