EBSCO Publishing Introduces Three New CDs
EBSCO Publishing has announced the release of the MAS FullTEXT Premier database, which was designed for high school and junior college libraries. MAS FullTEXT Premier contains searchable full text for over 210 general-interest titles and includes abstracts and indexing for nearly 500 titles. It is currently available on Windows CD-ROM and online via EBSCOhost.
With the introduction of MAS FullTEXT Premier, a third full-text option was added to the MAS FullTEXT family, which includes MAS FullTEXT Elite and MAS FullTEXT Select. The Elite and Select databases contain 140 and 70 fulltext titles, respectively, and both include indexing and abstracts for over 400 titles. All three MAS FullTEXT databases include over 3,000 charts, tables, and graphs converted to ASCII text; searchable full text for almost 5,000 Magill's Book Reviews; and coverage of The New York Times.
Also in the MAS family is the Magazine Article Summaries database, EBSCO's original periodical database. This option contains abstracts and indexing only.
EBSCO Publishing has also announced the introduction of EBSCOmed, a new Web-based medical product line that is also available on CD-ROM and company intranets. According to the company, EBSCOmed offers a variety of medical and allied health information services to meet the needs of medical librarians, doctors, clinical specialists and researchers, patients and their families, legal and administrative specialists, Medicaid and Medicare coordinators, and patient support personnel.
"The mission of EBSCOmed is to provide easy access to quality medical and allied health information at a reasonable cost," said Tim Collins, vice president of EBSCO Industries and division general manager of EBSCO Publishing. "EBSCOmed utilizes the convenience and dynamic nature of the Internet to quickly deliver an ever-expanding body of information to a variety of users."
