THE SHINS WINCING THE NIGHT AWAY (Sub Pop) Possibly anticipating intense scrutiny after having had a track on the very popular Garden State soundtrack, these indie darlings have created a deliberately low-key, polished dream pop album. Absolutely gorgeous but gentle, Wincing nimbly incorporates the essences of '80s Brit pop, vintage R.E.M., and swoon-worthy AM radio melodies.
