As part of a WTO Trade Policy Course in English, ITC organized a programme in October at its headquarters on the techniques of export development and trade promotion for 27 participants from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean region and the Middle East.

A four-day workshop for 30 women entrepreneurs was held in Freetown in November. The sessions were organized by the Sierra Leone Trade and Investment School in cooperation with the EMPRETEC Ghana Foundation as part of an ITC export development, diversification and promotion project with the Government, financed by UNDP.

At the request of Malta's External Trade Corporation (METCO), ITC presented a three-day programme in October on negotiating international business deals. Thirty participants from the business and public sectors attended the event, which was financed by the Government of Malta.

ITC organized a seminar on international trade for trainers in Johannesburg at the end of January. A total of 23 persons from institutions concerned with human resource development and trade support organizations in Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland attended.
