Editor's Note: In "A Region Rebuilds" (DS September 2006), we reported on how dance studios down South were rebuilding after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. DS readers gave generously to their fellow dancers in need. Here are some of the letters we received updating us on where those donations went.

The dancers at Lionville School of Dance in Lionville, PA, collected 146 costumes for the dance victims of Hurricane Katrina. We contacted Dance Magic Studio in Gautier, MS, and shipped them there. They were very grateful for our generosity and said they would all be put to great use. In addition to costumes, we also collected dance shoes and accessories.

Here is a brief update on a project Studio 5D has undertaken. We are working with a nonprofit organization called Tajiri School of Performing Arts ( in Sanford, FL. The school's mission is to improve the quality of life for ethnically diverse youth in the community through a variety of programs, including those designed to "impart an appreciation of the performing arts" through drama, music and dance. Our dancers donated their costumes to the Tajiri School!

I loved the article "Memorizing Movement" (January 2007). I recently had to memorize a solo in a very short amount of time, and I found the tips and tricks in this article very helpful.

I am honored to be the captain of a brilliant group of ladies: the Ohio University Dance Team. We are a student-run organization that is not part of the school's athletic department We fundraise for uniforms and dance conventions, choreograph, work our booties off at practice and participate in numerous activities in the community. …
