KPMG Participates in Volunteerism Summit

KPMG Peat Marwick participated in the Presidents' Summit on volunteerism on April 27-29 in Philadelphia.

KPMG was selected for the summit on the basis of its "World of Spirit Day," a community service program the firm is planning nationwide for September. KPMG chair and CEO Stephen G. Butler, and board member and KPMG centennial co-chair Christine St. Clare, were scheduled to represent the firm at the Philadelphia summit event.

"We're proud to have been invited by General Colin Powell, general chairman of the summit, to participate in the Presidents' Summit on America's Future in our centennial year," said Butler. "KPMG's commitment to volunteerism and to the communities in which we live and work is the centerpiece of our firm's centennial celebration. We can't think of a better way to celebrate our 100 years and we're gratified at the support we've received from our clients." Butler said.

As part of the firm's World of Spirit Day celebration, KPMG will close its offices nationwide on September 22, allowing its 20,000 partners and employees to volunteer their time in the local communities in which the firm operates. …
