Music Video Director Touts Unilux as "Visual Artistic Tool"

Gerry Wenner, director and co-owner of Planet Pictures of Hollywood, California, is an enthusiastic user of Unilux strobe lighting systems. Wenner, who has made five music videos using Unilux in the last year or so, calls Unilux "beauty lighting" because of the clarity and subtleness a director can achieve when shooting a musical performance.

Wenner mentions the videos he directed for Carlene Carter and Stephanie Mills as examples of videos where Unilux accentuated the natural beauty of the performers. "I think of the glossy, high fashion, very stylized photographs you often see in a magazine like Vogue. Unilux can help create that same seamless effect."

The veteran director, who has worked in the film industry for more than 20 years, says he thinks of Unilux as a "visual artistic tool" that can be used in postproduction to match visual and audio rhythms. He described one technique where he uses alternate frame ranges from six, to 10, to 12 to 30 frames a second. …
