ISM Prepares for 39th Annual Conference

ISM board and conference committee members, as well as members of The Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group, are busily preparing for their 39th annual conference to be held September 10-13 in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Hilton, 1001 Marquette Ave., will be the host site for the ISM conference as well as for the National Staff Development and Training Association conference, which will run concurrently with the ISM conference. In addition, the ACF IT Systems Meeting-for government attendees only-will be held immediately following the conclusion of the ISM conference.

The theme of this year's ISM conference is "A Time of Transition: the Power of Partnerships," and reflects the increasing and varied use of partnerships in the delivery of human aservices and in information technology used to support service delivery. Some functions traditionally performed by government agencies are being outsourced; non-traditional venues are being used to increase client access to services; and partnerships are being forged more frequently with other government entities such as schools and juvenile corrections. Collaborations on IT projects and service delivery are occurring in increasingly varied combinations among different levels of government, multiple private-sector entities and multiple not-for-profits. …
