Nine Pound Newsmaker

Weighing just nine pounds (including lens, battery and tape cassette) the Sony Betacam Newsmaker camera/VTR represents a dramatic breakthrough in electronic news gathering technology. The unit is designed to capture airable pictures under reasonable lighting conditions and is perfect for handheld coverage of events requiring great maneuverability, or as a low cost emergency back-up.

The low cost, minimum facility approach of the Newsmaker BVW-2 also makes it ideal for applications such as ENG coverage in high risk environments (e.g. war zones, politically sensitive areas), video assists to a variety of production and institutional projects, training tools for cinematographers and reporters, and emergency back-up to conventional BVW-1/BVW-3 .Betacam systems.

In addition to its total weight of 9 lbs., the Newsmaker represents a dramatic technological breakthrough in VTR transport/scanner systems. It maintains complete compatibility with the Betacam format on playback and provides registration-free piek-up. The BVW-2 records a single audio track. There is no provision for video or time code output.
